Clean Energy Connect, Inc. (“CEC”), a provider of green power solutions delivering renewable electricity and environmental value from non-FIT solar power to decarbonization-driven and RE100-participating companies, today announced that CEC has concluded a long-term corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) with Amazon to supply renewable energy with additionality.
In this initiative, CEC will develop Amazon-exclusive non-FIT low-voltage solar power plants with total capacity of approximately 70 MW-DC (38 MW-AC,), comprising around 700 sites across Japan by March 2025. The generated renewable energy will be supplied to Amazon over the long term through an offsite corporate PPA scheme.
Amazon is advancing its commitment to operate its business on 100% renewable energy by 2025 and has been actively procuring renewable energy globally. For this project, Amazon has partnered with CEC, which provides practical and scalable renewable energy solutions through offsite corporate PPA schemes.
The project will be implemented in collaboration with Eco Style Co., Ltd. and ITOCHU Corporation, both of which have capital and business alliances with CEC. Looking ahead, CEC aims to further enhance the utilization of renewable energy by combining solar power with battery storage and wind power, enabling 24/7 renewable energy supply. By continuing to provide advanced green solutions, CEC is committed to supporting customers in achieving their RE100 and decarbonization goals while contributing to global challenges towards the climate change.
